"In artist Costanza Knight's work, symbolic hands pass the life force from the creator to the creation."

The Creation Series began with the premise that it is possible that we are held in the hands of God as we go through this life. If we are created in God's image, his/her hands might look like ours. I began to play with the idea of God's hands doing their work and I envisioned hands creating galaxies and life forms. The Creation Series emerged. Allowing the observer to see God's hands at work evolved as a fascinating vantage point from which to view the Creation Story.

The Creation, Day One

Day One

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. (Gen. 1:3-4)

Day Two

And God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. (Gen. 1:7)

Day Three

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. (Gen. 1:11)

Day Four

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years. (Gen. 1:14)

Day Five

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. (Gen. 1:20)

Day Six

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Gen. 1:27) Then God saw everything that he had made and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Gen. 1:31)

Day Seven

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.(Gen. 2:2-3)
